# Connections

> Link a bank or broker once and let balances and transactions arrive on their own.

A connection saves you the typing; adding accounts by hand stays free. Connections sync while someone's subscription [sponsors](https://recontrol.money/docs/features/subscription.md) the space. To link one, see [Connect a bank](https://recontrol.money/docs/tasks/connect-a-bank.md).

| Where | Through | What comes in |
| - | - | - |
| **United States** and **Canada** | Plaid | Accounts, balances and up to two years of transactions; where the bank reports them, holdings, card and loan details, and payments it has seen repeat |
| **India** | Zerodha | Holdings: each security or fund, its quantity and price |

One connection covers every account at that bank or broker.

## Staying current

Plaid brings what's new on its own, usually a few times a day. Zerodha ends every session at six each morning, India time; **Sign In Again** brings holdings up to date. "Synced 2h ago" is when Recontrol last checked, not when something last changed. When a bank asks you to sign in again, see [Fix a connection](https://recontrol.money/docs/tasks/fix-a-connection.md).

## Where imported transactions land

Recontrol places each transaction's other side from your own history and categories. See [What syncs, and when](https://recontrol.money/docs/concepts/syncing.md).

## Who manages it

Members who can see connections see all of them, with who linked each. Only that person can **Reconnect**.

**Disconnect**, in its menu, revokes the access and deletes the stored token. Its accounts and history stay, kept by hand from the last balance the bank reported.

If no one sponsors the space, sync pauses and every member is told. After 30 days, its banks are disconnected; their accounts and history stay.
