# Your first ten minutes

> From signing in to your first budget: add an account, record a transaction, set a budget, and invite someone.

From signing in to a first budget, on the phone. The web, at [app.recontrol.money](https://app.recontrol.money), has the same steps with the names in sentence case.

**1. Sign in**

Tap **Continue with Apple**, **Continue with Google** or **Continue with Email**. Signing in the first time creates your account. See [Signing in](https://recontrol.money/docs/get-started/sign-in.md).

**2. Meet your first space**

You land on **Home** for **Personal**, a space made for you: one set of books in one currency, your phone's to start. While it's empty, Home shows **Set Up This Space**: connect a bank or broker, or add each thing yourself.

**3. Add an account**

Tap **Add What You Have**, then **New** on **Assets**, and choose:

* **Add by Hand**: name it ("Savings"), choose its currency, type what it holds today, and tap **Add**.
* **Connect a Bank or Broker**: sign in with your bank, and its accounts arrive on their own. This needs a subscription; see [Connect a bank](https://recontrol.money/docs/tasks/connect-a-bank.md).

**4. Record a transaction**

Tap **+** on Home. Type the amount, answer **What was it?** ("Groceries at the market"), choose **From** (Savings) and **To** (type Groceries, then **New Category**), and tap **Add**. **5. Set a budget**

On Home, tap **Make a Plan**, then **New Budget**. Choose Groceries for **What spending does it cover?**, type your limit for **How much a month, at most?**, and tap **Set**. Home gains a **Budgets** line: "₹1,500 left", or "\$120 left". See [Set a budget](https://recontrol.money/docs/tasks/set-a-budget.md).

**6. Invite someone**

Tap the layers icon at the top left of Home, then **New Space**, and name it ("Household"). On its page, tap **Invite Someone**, type their email, pick a role, and tap **Invite**. See [Share a space](https://recontrol.money/docs/tasks/share-a-space.md).
