# Connect a bank or Zerodha

> Link a bank in the US or Canada, or Zerodha in India, so balances and transactions arrive on their own.

Recontrol connects bank accounts and cards in the US and Canada, through Plaid, and stock and mutual fund holdings from Zerodha in India. One connection brings every account you hold there. A space's connections sync while someone's subscription [sponsors](https://recontrol.money/docs/features/subscription.md) it.

**1. Open New on a class, then Connect a Bank or Broker**

Or **Settings › Connections › Add Connection** (on the web, **Connections** in the sidebar).

**2. Pick your country**

**United States** or **Canada** opens Plaid; **India** opens Zerodha. If no one sponsors the space yet, the subscription comes first; any member can sponsor.

**3. Sign in with your bank**

Recontrol never sees your password, PIN or codes.

**4. Wait for the first import**

Accounts arrive first, then up to two years of transactions, as much as the bank keeps.

Cards and loans land in Liabilities. A connected account's balance follows the bank, so you can't record into it or set its balance. Each transaction's other side is placed for you; see [Sort what synced](https://recontrol.money/docs/tasks/sort-what-synced.md). Members see the connection with your name; only you can **Reconnect** it.

Connecting the same bank again in the same space refreshes it. Zerodha connects once per person.
