# Save toward a goal

> Set a target on some of your balances, savings to reach or a debt to pay off, and see whether you'll get there.

A target: "₹12,00,000 for a house by Dec 2027", or "the car loan, gone". A goal on assets saves up; on liabilities, it pays down.

**1. Start a goal**

Tap **New** on Goals, **Set a Goal** on an account, or **Make a Plan** on Home and a want such as **Build an Emergency Fund**. On the web, **New plan** on Plans, or <kbd>⇧</kbd><kbd>N</kbd>, then <kbd>P</kbd>, anywhere.

**2. Answer the form**

**Which accounts count toward it?** (each in one goal at a time), **How much do you need?** and **By which month, if any?**. Unsure? **I Don't Know Yet** works it out from what you can put in a month.

**3. Add Your Plan, if you like**

What you'll put in a month, and the growth you expect. Nothing is filled in for you.

**4. Tap Set**

The goal opens with its verdict: "On track. At this pace, Sep 2033." Home gains a **Goals** line ("₹4.62L to go").

On a hand-kept account, **Put In ₹X** (for a debt, **Record a Payment · ₹X**) records today's payment from the space's **Default From**, with **Undo**. You make the payment with your bank.
