Deletion is permanent and irreversible. We do not maintain backups. Once your deletion request is processed, your data cannot be recovered by you or by us under any circumstances.

Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your Recontrol account does not cancel your subscription. Your subscription belongs to your Apple or Google account, not to Recontrol, so we cannot end it for you. Cancel it in your app store’s subscription settings before you delete your account, or you will keep being charged.
If you are subscribed, the app shows this warning during deletion and links straight to your store’s subscription settings. You can also reach them directly:
  • iOS — Settings → your name → Subscriptions
  • Android — Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies; we cannot issue them.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, the following is permanently removed from our systems:
  • Your user profile (email address, display name, phone number)
  • Every space where you are the only member, and everything in it: its accounts, transactions, plans and data imported into it
  • Your connections, which are revoked with the provider (Plaid, Zerodha) before their stored access tokens are deleted
  • Your membership in every shared space, and your role assignments
  • All Chat questions you have asked (answers were never stored)
  • Your feedback messages and your notifications
  • Our record of your subscription, your usage counters, and any spaces you sponsored
  • Your settings, country/region, and currency preferences
  • Your registered device push tokens
  • All authentication tokens and session data
In a shared space, the accounts and transactions belong to the space, so they stay. What you recorded there shows as “Former member”. Nothing is retained for business purposes after deletion. If you connected a bank or broker, we recommend disconnecting it first; data held by Plaid, Zerodha, or your institution is governed by their own policies.

What happens to shared spaces

Deletion is never blocked, and you are never asked to hand a space over first.
  • Spaces where you are the only member are deleted along with your account, including everything in them.
  • Spaces with other members survive. You are removed from them; their accounts, transactions and history stay, because they belong to the space, not to you, and what you recorded shows as “Former member”. If you were that space’s only administrator, the longest-standing remaining member is promoted to administrator automatically, so nobody is left with a space they cannot manage.
  • Spaces you sponsored stop syncing their bank connections when your subscription record goes. Nothing in them is deleted, and another member can sponsor the space to turn syncing back on.
In-app deletion is immediate.
1

Open Settings

On the phone, tap your picture at the top right of Home.
2

Find Delete My Recontrol Account

Scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete My Recontrol Account.
3

Confirm

Read the confirmation, type the sentence it shows (“I want to delete my Recontrol account.”), and tap Delete. Your account and its data are deleted immediately.
On the web, open your menu, then Your account, then Profile, choose Delete my Recontrol account, and type the sentence it shows to confirm.
There is nothing to arrange first. Even if you are the only administrator of a shared space, deletion goes ahead — see What happens to shared spaces.

Method 2: Email request

If you cannot access the app, email us to request deletion. Send to: support@recontrol.money Subject: Account deletion request Include:
  • The email address on your Recontrol account
  • A clear statement that you want your account and all associated data permanently deleted
We may verify your identity before processing to protect your data from unauthorised deletion. Email requests are processed within 30 days of receipt.

Data retained after deletion

After your account is deleted, we may retain minimal records only where required by applicable Indian law — for example, records subject to a court order or law enforcement process. We will never retain data beyond what is legally mandated, and never for business purposes.

Written confirmation

We automatically send a confirmation email to your account address once deletion completes. You may also request written confirmation at any time — email support@recontrol.money and we will provide it within a reasonable timeframe.
