A space is one set of books in one reporting currency. Everyone in it sees everything; a role decides what each can change. Nobody owns a space. See Spaces, the concept, and to invite someone, Share a space. The layers icon on Home opens the switcher, with Space Settings and New Space. On the web, the sidebar’s switcher (each space’s cog opens its Settings), and the space’s pages in the sidebar: Settings (the items below, its Details, then Leave and Delete), Members (the invite on the page, and Roles at its top). Paid for by on Connections opens Sponsorship (its bank sync).

A space’s page

  • Name: Rename at the top of the page on the phone, or the name in Settings on the web. Its time zone sets its days and is fixed when it’s made.
  • What currency should totals be in? Changing it changes everyone’s totals and converts each budget’s limit.
  • Which account do you usually pay from? A new transaction starts from it, on that phone only.
  • Members, Roles, Invite Someone, Connections, Leave and Delete.

Roles

Custom Role… sets view, add, edit and delete for each area. You can’t grant what you don’t hold, and Recontrol refuses any change that leaves a space without an administrator.

Leaving and deleting

Leave is never blocked: if you’re the last administrator, the longest-standing member becomes one. Your shared costs stay. Delete removes the space for every member, after you type its name. It can’t be undone. A member’s subscription can sponsor the space’s bank sync; that gives no permissions.
